Adventure Zone is a full day program for children 5-12 years of age.  Designed for the working parent(s) who need affordable child care during the summer.  Adventure Zone will offer a rich program experience for participants.  Activities include, but not limited to; arts and crafts, sports, tournaments, field trips, swimming once a week (Agawam State Pool), environmental activities, guest speakers and much more.  Participants are divided into age appropriate groups.  Some of the benefits of attending this are a sense of adventure, building self esteem, socialization, interaction with peers, increasing creativity and personal growth.  Participants should bring own lunch, snack and drink.  Lunches should be brought in a small cooler with ice pack.  Refrigeration is not available.  Water will be available for drinks. Will visit Municipal Playground’s Spray ParkField Trips                 Field trip expenses will be the responsibility of the participant.  Some of our destinations for this summer will be to Nomads, Brownstone Park, Lake Compounce and Sonny’s Place.  Participants will have a field trip once a week starting in July.             Junior Leaders  Children who are 13 and older may apply for volunteering as a Junior Leader.  Volunteer application must be completed prior to May 31.  Will only accept 5-6 volunteers per session. Please bring own tennis racket and water and wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Participants will have an option to visit spray park 2-3 times per week. This camp will include a little of everything, jazz, acro, ballet, tap, lyrical and hip hop. It will be a fantastic week of dance, friends, fun and a few surprises. We will end the weeks with a special talent showcase for our family and friends along with a trophy for all the dancers. Each week will include manicures, pedicures, glitter tattoos, yoga, musical theatre themed party days as well as our fabulous All-Star Tuesday event. There will even be a make your own sundae day. Everyone will enjoy a pool party at Roots Aquatic & Fitness Center and of course a few special appearances by a princess or 2. Remember to wear comfortable clothes or dance clothes. If you have dance shoes, please bring them. If you don't, the dance center has extra tap shoes we would be happy to share with you. The Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) Program is a community education program that covers child safety and basic care techniques for infants and children. This course is designed for pre teens and teenagers who may be responsible for watching younger siblings, neighbors and relatives. This program will teach the importance of responsibility, reliability, discipline, age appropriate activities, recognizing an emergency, emergency action steps, personal safety, fire safety, water safety, food safety, infant care and also basic first aid and choking management. We will also review marketing and learning to be assertive. Session A – Fairy Garden Fun! – Ballet and TapLet's put on our fairy wings and fly on a magical adventure to the fairy garden! Tip toe and twirl around the mushroom caps, skip to the fresh flower patch, leap over the rainbow and river, we will sparkle pixie dust everywhere we go! Take part in a magical craft that came straight out of the fairy crafting guide. Enjoy a yummy lunch to help fuel our adventures around the garden and of course take home a goodie bag full of things hand selected for you by our favorite fairy friends. We cannot wait to fly with you! Session B – K-Pop Hunters – Hip Hop Acro Get ready to move like Rumi and the gang as you dance the day away with our K-POP Demon Hunter Hip-Hop Acro party!! Learn a dance combo to some of your favorite songs from the movie. Take part in fun activities, games and a demon slaying craft and go home with your very own swag bag chalk full of fun goodies. Can't wait to slay the day away with you! Session C – Slimtastic Tuesday! - Tumbling It's Ooey....It's Gooey...lt's SLIMETASTIC Tuesday! Not only do you get to create your very own messy crazy cool slime like no other to take home and play with but, you also get to Tumble your heart away and dance to the beat of your own drum with a fun filled dance combo! This camp will include a little of everything, jazz, acro, ballet, tap, lyrical and hip hop. It will be a fantastic week of dance, friends, fun and a few surprises. We will end the weeks with a special talent showcase for our family and friends along with a trophy for all the dancers. Each week will include manicures, pedicures, glitter tattoos, yoga, musical theatre themed party days as well as our fabulous All-Star Tuesday event. There will even be a make your own sundae day. Everyone will enjoy a pool party at Roots Aquatic & Fitness Center and of course a few special appearances by a princess or 2. Remember to wear comfortable clothes or dance clothes. Kids Aid 911 is a community education program especially designed for children who have competed the Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program, but the class is open to any child ages 11-15 that is interested in learning more about performing CPR and First Aid. This class will go into more depth regarding CPR and First Aid than the CABS Program did but still at a pace and level that is designed for children. A.J. Stables located 1040 East Mountain Road in Westfield, has acres of beautiful pasture and trails.  Programs have been created for you and your children to enjoy a bit of the country in the city.  All riding lessons are conducted by a Massachusetts licensed riding instructor.  All programs will take place at A.J. Stables at 1040 East Mountain Road.  You must register your child(ren) through the parks and recreation office using a program registration form.  When dropping off children please drive to the back of the property.  PLEASE DRIVE SLOWLY.  Program GuidelinesNo sandals or open toed shoes                        Provide backpack for personal itemsWear long pants for riding horses                   Bring rain coat on rainy days              No canvass sneakers                                       Program held rain or shineBring snack/drinks-will set aside time            Apply sunscreen and bug spray before arriving         Participants will get dirty so please wear appropriate clothing.  Department will provide riding helmets on a loan basis for each riding session.Parents/Guardians are requested to leave the farm after they drop their child(ren) off and not linger around the farm.  Pictures can be taken on Thursday of each session. Summer RidingSpend a day on the farm experiencing how to care for and ride a horse.
